Boat of Garten
Boat of Garten Overview
Boat of Garten Golf Club is nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms alongside the River Spey. The course was designed by one of the grand masters of golf course architecture, James Braid. Eighteen completely individual holes weave through this breathtaking Scottish landscape with a symphony of birch-lined fairways, heather-painted roughs, and cunning greens.
A sanctuary for golfers of every stripe. Whether you’re a seasoned champion or a weekend warrior, Boat of Garten welcomes you with open arms. The friendly clubhouse, a haven of crackling fires and hearty fare, echoes with laughter and the clinking of glasses.
Black Sheep Review
Boat of Garten offers a wonderful alternative to the traditional links courses of Scotland. I consider this as the classic “Hidden Gem” and Highlands golf at its finest.
We love to include Boat of Garten in our Highland tours as a fun alternative to the links courses that tend to dominate tour itineraries. Its location in the Cairngorms also makes it a good choice for tours that are transitioning from the north highlands to Aberdeen or down to Gleneagles as we’ve done in our Couples Classic and Ultimate Highlands tours.
Its location also offers a couple of amazing non-golf options as well. With more high-level mountain ground than anywhere else in Britain and Ireland, the Cairngorms National Park offers a vital habitat for rare mountain plants and other wildlife. It’s also a perfect place for a hike. Speaking of hiking, you might want to consider the Speyside Way Whisky Trail to explore something some of Scotland’s most famous whisky distilleries. The Speyside region produces about half of Scotland’s single malt whisky.
